Chard, Ilminster & District U3A belongs to the UK national network of
Universities of the Third Age, offering a wide range of learning,
practical and social opportunities for people who are no longer
in full-time employment.
|
|
Our
U3A currently offers around 30 subjects, ranging from practical activities
such as calligraphy and quilt-making, to study opportunities such as
languages, history, etymology, religion and philosophy. Also on offer are
numerous social and practical activities, including bridge, play reading,
theatre club, lunch club, bird-watching and rambling.
A subject may be
studied or practised simply by joining the appropriate 'group'.
Groups usually meet once or
twice a month, normally during the morning or afternoon.
There
are no entry
requirements
or exams to take, and there is no limit to the number o f
groups that each U3A member may join. More details of the groups may be
found by clicking on the 'Groups' button above.
As
well as the group meetings, we hold a monthly get-together that all
members may
attend. This usually features a talk on a subject of general interest.
Joining the U3A
is a wonderful way of keeping your mind and body in good shape with the
passing years,
and of making new friends too.
If you are not
already a
